Nimeni on Mimi
Finnish for “my name is Mimi", Nimeni on Mimi is my journal, my scrapbook, and a place to share with my nearest and dearest. Tervetuloa! (Welcome!)
my new home!
Wait… What’s Happening?!
(the prologue)
In May, I graduated from Villanova University, and now we’re taking this show on the road! As of August 1, I am a legal resident of Finland! Apparently Pennsylvania wasn’t east enough? I’m honored to have been granted a Fulbright Scholarship to obtain my M.S. in Sustainability Science & Solutions at the Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT). I’ll be living in Lappeenranta, just on the shore of Lake Saimaa, the largest of Finland’s 187,000 lakes.
I never could have imagined that a suburb of Philadelphia could teach me so much and become home so quickly. During my time at Villanova, my perceptions of friendship, resilience, and myself were radically transformed. While it’s daunting to feel like I’m leaving this all behind, I keenly recall how scary my first semester in Bryn Mawr felt. And yet I couldn’t have imagined the growth, triumph, and delight that awaited me.
As I set off down this new path, I expect to encounter twists, turns, wonder, dead ends, and discovery. Through it all, I am eager to be transformed and humbled. And so, I view Nimeni on Mimi as a place to both process this experience and to keep you all updated!
Kind Words
“Channing made an extra effort to add elements that were personal to us. She made sure our space reflected us as individuals and as a family.”
